How do you express love in the midst of grief? By showing you understand the pain.

Presenting the release concert for There Arises Light in the Darkness, pianist and composer Barron Ryan’s new album commemorating the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

A lifelong Tulsan, Barron wanted to offer beauty to the massacre’s memory, and to show that despite suffering even as great as that historic atrocity, there’s still reason for hope. So he composed and recorded a new work for violin, cello, and piano which musically conveys how struggle can turn into triumph.

This concert celebrates the release of this new recording. It will feature the performance of Barron’s entire composition, plus musical selections which people around the world have used to find hope in the midst of suffering.

Join Barron and his collaborators—Christopher Whitley on violin and Alex Cox on cello—for an evening of soulful and inspiring music. Come see how there can arise light in the darkness.
